Making students aware of an aspect of Czech culture
Jan Zahradníček was a Czech Catholic writer who had to overcome numerous obstacles throughout his life. Aged two, he fell from an attic and injured his spine and chest, resulting in life-long health implications. Later he was sentenced to 13-year imprisonment in a fabricated process.
The students read his poem “Píseň o domově” (Song of Home) and based on analysis, they tried to describe the personality of the poet.
