Global problems

Geography based activity to develop presentation and communication skills

This activity is preceded by homework – the students use the Internet, encyclopaedias, trying to find out the most serious global problems. They write the information obtained to the exercise book.
In the 1st teaching unit, the students split into workgroups and share and sort the information obtained and discuss the problems.
The 2nd unit focuses on presentations, in which the students communicate their findings, express their views, and speculate over possible solutions to the problems.
In conclusion, the students fill in the worksheet that serves as the activity’s output.

What could have been done differently or is planned for future repeats?

The students were able to identify the most serious global environmental problems. Their solutions to the problems were often very unorthodox. I think they realised how serious the situation is, but I can’t tell how they are going to act in their lives.
